  1. Icing Consistency is Key: Achieve the right consistency for your royal icing – thick enough for outlining and thin enough for flooding. Experiment until you find the sweet spot.
  2. Patience with Drying: Allow each layer of icing to dry before adding the next. This prevents colors from bleeding and ensures a clean, polished finish.
  3. Use Piping Bags: Invest in piping bags or sturdy zip-top bags for precise decorating. They offer control, especially when outlining intricate details.
  4. Get Creative with Colors: Play with a variety of festive colors to make your gingerbread men truly eye-catching. Red and green are classics, but don’t shy away from blues, pinks, and purples for a modern twist.
  5. Experiment with Decorations: From mini candies and edible glitter to tiny edible ornaments, the options for decorating are endless. Let your imagination run wild!
  6. Share the Joy: Gingerbread men are meant to be shared. Package them in festive boxes or cookie tins and spread the holiday spirit with friends and family.

  • 1 cup of Butter – softened
  • 1 cup of Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 teaspoons of Vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups of Flour
  • 1 teaspoon of Salt
  • 3/4 cups of Warm Water
  • 1/3 cup of Meringue Powder
  • 2 – 16-ounce bags of Powdered Sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons of Karo Syrup
  • 1/4 cup molasses

  1. In the mixing bowl of a Stand Mixer, add the Butter, Sugar, and Egg, and blend with the Whisk attachment until smooth, and creamy.  Add the Vanilla, molasses, and mix until blended.
  2. In a separate bowl, add the Flour, and Salt, and mix well to blend.  Add the Flour mixture to the mixing bowl, and mix until blended, and smooth.
  3. Place a large piece of Parchment paper on the Kitchen Counter, and sprinkle with Flour.  Place half of the Cookie dough on the Parchment paper, and with a Floured Rolling Pin, roll the Dough to 1/2-inch thickness.
  4. Cut out cookies using a gingerbread man cookie cutter and place on cookie sheet.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes, or until Cookies begin to turn golden brown around the edges. Remove from the oven to a wire rack, and cool completely.
  6. In the mixing bowl of a Stand Mixer, place the Warm Water, Meringue Powder, and Karo Syrup, and blend with the Whisk attachment until completely blended and smooth.  Add the Powdered Sugar, about 2 cups at a time, and mix on low, until all the Powdered Sugar has been added.
  7. Scrape down the sides of the Mixing Bowl as needed, and blend until the Icing is smooth and creamy.
  8. Now comes the fun part – decorating! Color you’re icing the desire colors and get your sprinkles handy! Check out our easy video tutorial below and see first-hand how we decorated each cookie!
