Ingredients:

  • 4 cups water
  • 3 black tea bags (or green tea for a lighter flavor)
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • ½ cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup water (for strawberry syrup)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional, for brightness)
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves and strawberry slices for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Brew the Tea: In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat, add the tea bags, and let them steep for about 5-7 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea. Discard the tea bags and let the tea cool to room temperature.
  2. Make the Strawberry Syrup: While the tea is cooling, combine the sliced strawberries, sugar, and 1 cup of water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes until the strawberries are soft and the syrup is slightly thickened. Remove from heat and strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing down on the strawberries to extract all the juice. Let it cool completely.
  3. Combine the Tea and Strawberry Syrup: Once both the tea and strawberry syrup have cooled, pour them into a large pitcher and stir well to combine. Add the lemon juice for an extra bright and fresh flavor.
  4. Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the strawberry iced tea for at least an hour to allow the flavors to meld. When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice cubes, pour in the tea, and garnish with fresh mint leaves and sliced strawberries for a beautiful presentation.

Tips for the Best Strawberry Iced Tea:

  • Adjust Sweetness: If you prefer a less sweet tea, reduce the sugar in the strawberry syrup or replace it with honey or a sugar substitute.
  • Stronger Flavor: Let the tea bags steep a little longer for a bolder taste.
  • Make it Sparkling: For a fizzy version, mix in a splash of club soda before serving.
