  • 2 (15 oz) cans chili beans (do not drain)
  • 2 (15 oz) cans kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon sugar (optional, but very Wendy’s-style)
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

1. Brown the Beef

In a large pot or skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned. Drain excess grease.

Add the onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic. Cook for 4–5 minutes until vegetables begin to soften.

2. Build the Chili

Stir in:

  • Chili beans
  • Kidney beans
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Tomato sauce
  • Tomato paste

Add all seasonings and stir well until fully combined.

3. Simmer

Reduce heat to low, cover, and let the chili simmer for 30–45 minutes, stirring occasionally.

For deeper flavor, let it simmer up to 1 hour.

4. Taste & Serve

Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
