Ingredients

For Each Color Batch (Red or Green)

  • 3 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • ½ cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon creamy peanut butter
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar
  • Red or green food coloring (gel recommended for bright color)
  • Optional: ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

(You will make the recipe below twice — once with red coloring, once with green.)

Instructions

Make the Red Batch

  1. Place 3 cups Chex cereal in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Melt ½ cup white chocolate chips and 1 tablespoon peanut butter in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  3. Add a few drops of red gel food coloring to the melted mixture and stir until the color is bright and even.
  4. Pour over the cereal and gently fold until all pieces are coated.
  5. Place the ¾ cup powdered sugar in a large zip-top bag.
  6. Add the coated cereal, seal, and shake until every piece is covered.
  7. Spread onto parchment paper to cool and dry.

Make the Green Batch

  1. Add 3 cups Chex to a clean bowl.
  2. Melt the white chocolate and peanut butter the same way.
  3. Add green gel food coloring and mix until smooth and vibrant.
  4. Pour over the cereal and gently coat.
  5. Add cereal to a zip-top bag with powdered sugar and shake to cover.
  6. Spread on parchment paper to cool.

Combine

Once both batches are fully dry, mix the red and green muddy buddies together in a large bowl for the ultimate Christmas snack mix.
