INGREDIENTS:
1 large bunch of Asparagus
Thin cut bacon – we used Hormel
1 Tablespoon of Garlic Salt
1 Tablespoon of Seasoned Pepper
1 teaspoon of Onion Powder
1 teaspoon of Garlic Powder with chopped Parsley
1 Tablespoon of Brown Sugar
2 Tablespoons of Butter – melted
Spray Olive Oil
Pastry Brush
Parchment paper
DIRECTIONS:
Start by rinsing the bunch of Asparagus under cool water, and dry with paper towel. Place the Asparagus on a piece of Parchment paper, and cut off the woody ends. (leave the pointed end, or spear intact, and cut off about an inch or little more of the bottom of the asparagus stalks). Lay the trimmed Asparagus close together on the parchment paper, and melt the butter in the microwave. Using your pastry brush, brush the Asparagus spears with the butter. In a small bowl, place the Garlic Salt, Seasoned Pepper, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, and Brown Sugar, and mix well to combine. Sprinkle lightly over the Asparagus. If you’re doing the Bacon wrapped Spears, pick up one Spear, and wrap from the top to the bottom, twisting the slice of Bacon around the spears. Spray the inside of the Air Fryer Basket with the spray Olive Oil, and lay the bacon wrapped Asparagus Spears in a single layer in the Basket. Set the Cooking time to 11 minutes, and the temperature to 350, and cook the Asparagus until the bacon is done, turning the asparagus half way through cooking, so at about 5 – 6 minutes. When done, remove from air fryer basket to a platter, or plate. Serve, and Enjoy!
NOTE: If you’re cooking the Bundles, instead of the individual spears, use about 3 spears of Asparagus, and one bacon slice to wrap the bundles. Cook the bundles at 350 for 11 minutes, turning half way, until you have crisp bacon, and the asparagus is tender when pierced with a sharp knife. You can follow the instructions above to brush the bundles with butter, and season them with the seasonings, cook them, and you have the perfect asparagus side dish to serve. ALSO: If you don’t want to use Brown Sugar, you can squeeze a little lemon juice into the melted butter, and still use the rest of the seasonings, just omit the brown sugar. You can also sprinkle with Parmesan Cheese if you prefer, or drizzle a little Maple syrup over the stems when done.
IF YOU DON”T HAVE AN AIR FRYER: you can cook this in the oven, just prepare the asparagus per the directions, season, wrap with the bacon, and place on a Parchment lined Baking sheet, or cookie sheet, and bake at 350 for 20 – 25 minutes or until the Bacon is cooked done, and crisp. You’ll need to turn the asparagus half way through cooking, so at about 12 minutes. When done, remove from oven, and sprinkle with Parmesan Cheese, or Drizzle with a little Maple Syrup.
