Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Brown-tinted icing
  • Red hots (for the nose)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg, vanilla, and molasses, mixing until smooth. Gradually add flour and salt, blending until fully combined. Chill dough for 1 hour.
  2. Roll and Cut the Cookies
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out the chilled dough to about 1/4-inch thickness on a floured surface. Use a 3-inch round cookie cutter to cut out circles and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Bake
Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
  4. Decorate
Using brown icing in a piping bag, pipe antlers at the top of each cookie, two small dots for eyes, and a larger dot for the nose. Place a red hot on the nose icing dot for that classic Rudolph look.
