The best part is that you don’t need any special pancake molds or decorating skills. Make one larger pancake for the body and a slightly smaller pancake for the head, then let everyone decorate their own snowman. Serve with warm maple syrup for a festive Christmas morning breakfast.

Why You’ll Love These Snowman Pancakes

These pancakes look impressive on the breakfast table, but they’re actually incredibly simple to make. You can use homemade pancake batter, pancake mix, or even prepared pancakes when you need something quick.

The bacon scarf might be my favorite part! It adds a salty, crispy bite that tastes so good with pancakes and maple syrup. You can also use sliced strawberries as a scarf if you don’t have any bacon.

They’re perfect for Christmas morning, December weekends, snow days, or a fun holiday breakfast for kids.

Easy Snowman Pancakes Recipe

Servings: 4 snowmen
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 medium pancakes, for the heads
  • 4 large pancakes, for the bodies
  • 8 slices cooked bacon
  • 8 pretzel sticks
  • Black decorating icing
  • Orange decorating icing
  • Green decorating icing, or your favorite color for the hats
  • White decorating icing, for the hat pom-poms
  • Mini chocolate chips, optional
  • Maple syrup, for serving

Instructions

Cook the pancakes according to your favorite pancake recipe or package directions. For each snowman, make one larger pancake for the body and one slightly smaller pancake for the head.

Place the large pancake toward the bottom of a plate. Position the smaller pancake directly above it so the two pancakes touch and create the snowman shape.

Place strips of cooked bacon where the two pancakes meet to create a scarf. You can overlap two pieces of bacon so one piece hangs down the side.

Use black decorating icing to make two eyes and a smiling mouth on the smaller pancake. Pipe three black buttons down the center of the larger pancake. You can also use mini chocolate chips instead of icing for the eyes, mouth, and buttons.

Use orange decorating icing to pipe a little carrot-shaped nose in the center of the snowman’s face.

Place a pretzel stick on each side of the larger pancake to make the snowman’s arms.

Pipe a hat across the top of the snowman’s head using green icing or another color you like. Add a little white icing pom-pom on top.

Serve immediately with warm maple syrup.

Decorating Ideas

One of the fun things about this recipe is that every snowman can look a little different. Set out bowls of mini chocolate chips, pretzels, cooked bacon, and different colors of icing and let everyone decorate their own.

You could make red or green hats for Christmas, use chocolate chips instead of black icing, or add a dusting of powdered sugar around the plate to look like snow.

And don’t skip the bacon scarf! Besides being adorable, the sweet-and-salty combination of crispy bacon, fluffy pancakes, and maple syrup is delicious.

Can I Use Pancake Mix?

Absolutely. This is a decorating idea as much as it is a recipe, so use whatever pancake recipe your family loves.

A boxed pancake mix makes these especially easy for Christmas morning. Just make sure you create two different sizes—a larger pancake for the body and a medium pancake for the head.

Make-Ahead Tip

If you want to make Christmas morning easier, cook the bacon ahead of time and refrigerate it. You can also measure out all of your decorating ingredients the night before.

Make the pancakes fresh in the morning, arrange everything on the table, and turn breakfast into a little snowman decorating party.

Jennie’s Thoughts

I think this little snowman turned out so cute, and I especially love his bacon scarf! It’s such a simple idea, but once you add the face, carrot nose, pretzel arms, and icing hat, two ordinary pancakes suddenly turn into the cutest Christmas breakfast.

I also like that this doesn’t have to be perfect. Your snowman’s hat can be a little crooked, the bacon scarf can overlap, and every snowman can have a different expression. That’s part of what makes them fun.

I would definitely serve these with plenty of warm maple syrup on the side. You get fluffy pancake, crispy salty bacon, and sweet maple syrup all in one bite. This is exactly the kind of easy, festive recipe I love for Christmas morning!
