Ingredients
For the Cookies:
- 2 sticks of butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 1 egg
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 2 heaping tablespoons cocoa
For the Frosting:
- 1 stick of butter, softened
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1 (32 oz) bag powdered sugar
- ¼ cup cocoa (plus more if you prefer extra chocolate flavor)
For Decorating:
- 1 bag gummy worms
- Crushed Oreo cookie crumbs (about ½ to ¾ of a package)

Instructions
Make the Cookies:
- In the bowl of a stand mixer with the whisk attachment, cream together the butter, sugar, vanilla, and egg until light and fluffy.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa, and baking powder.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until fully incorporated.
- Switch to the paddle attachment and continue blending until a smooth dough forms. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on parchment-lined baking sheets.
- Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes, or until the edges start turning a light golden brown.
- Midway through baking, lightly press each cookie with a flat-bottomed glass dipped in sugar to gently flatten them and create a cracked, crinkle look.
- Once baked, let cookies cool completely on a wire rack.

Prepare the “Dirt”:
- Crush Oreo cookies in a food processor until they resemble fine crumbs—just like dirt! Set aside.
Make the Frosting:
- In a clean mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter and cream cheese until smooth.
- Add vanilla and heavy cream, then gradually beat in powdered sugar and cocoa until light and fluffy.
Pro Tip:
To easily pipe your frosting, place it onto a sheet of plastic wrap in a ribbon-like strip. Roll up the plastic wrap, twist the ends, and snip one end off. Slide the wrap into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip for a no-mess, bakery-style swirl.

Decorate the Cookies:
- Pipe a swirl of frosting onto each cooled cookie.
- Place a gummy worm on top of each cookie.
- Sprinkle crushed Oreo crumbs over the frosting for a realistic “dirt” effect.
- Let the frosting firm up for about 30 minutes before serving.
Serve & Enjoy!
