Instructions

Make the Cookies:

  1. In the bowl of a stand mixer with the whisk attachment, cream together the butter, sugar, vanilla, and egg until light and fluffy.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa, and baking powder.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until fully incorporated.
  4. Switch to the paddle attachment and continue blending until a smooth dough forms. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  5. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on parchment-lined baking sheets.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes, or until the edges start turning a light golden brown.
  7. Midway through baking, lightly press each cookie with a flat-bottomed glass dipped in sugar to gently flatten them and create a cracked, crinkle look.
  8. Once baked, let cookies cool completely on a wire rack.

Prepare the “Dirt”:

  • Crush Oreo cookies in a food processor until they resemble fine crumbs—just like dirt! Set aside.

Make the Frosting:

  1. In a clean mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter and cream cheese until smooth.
  2. Add vanilla and heavy cream, then gradually beat in powdered sugar and cocoa until light and fluffy.

Pro Tip:

To easily pipe your frosting, place it onto a sheet of plastic wrap in a ribbon-like strip. Roll up the plastic wrap, twist the ends, and snip one end off. Slide the wrap into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip for a no-mess, bakery-style swirl.

Decorate the Cookies:

  1. Pipe a swirl of frosting onto each cooled cookie.
  2. Place a gummy worm on top of each cookie.
  3. Sprinkle crushed Oreo crumbs over the frosting for a realistic “dirt” effect.
  4. Let the frosting firm up for about 30 minutes before serving.

Serve & Enjoy!
