- 1 box (3 ounces) orange gelatin
- 3/4 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup Orange Crush soda
- 1/2 cup orange vodka
- 1/4 cup cold water
- Orange slices or wedges, optional, for garnish
- Gold or orange sanding sugar, optional, for the rims
How to Make Golden Orange Crush Jello Shots
Step 1: Prepare the Cups
Arrange approximately 12–16 small Jello shot cups on a baking sheet or tray.
Using a tray makes it much easier to move all of the filled cups into the refrigerator at once.
Step 2: Dissolve the Orange Gelatin
Pour the orange gelatin into a medium heat-safe mixing bowl.
Add 3/4 cup boiling water.
Whisk for approximately 2 minutes, or until the gelatin has completely dissolved.
Step 3: Add the Orange Crush
Let the gelatin mixture cool for a few minutes.
Slowly pour in 1/2 cup Orange Crush soda.
Stir gently so the soda doesn’t foam too much.
The Orange Crush adds another layer of sweet orange flavor that makes these taste different from an ordinary orange Jello shot.
Step 4: Add the Vodka
Add 1/2 cup orange vodka and 1/4 cup cold water.

If every zodiac sign had its own Jello shot, Golden Orange Crush belongs to Leo.
Leo is a fire sign associated with the Sun, so I wanted this shot to look almost like sunshine in a little cup.
The orange color gives you the fire.
The golden sugar gives you the Sun.
And Orange Crush gives the recipe a fun, playful personality.
These would be perfect for a Leo birthday party, zodiac party, astrology-themed girls’ night, or summer celebration.
You can make them as simple or glamorous as you want.
But since we’re talking about Leo, I’m voting for the gold sugar.
Can I Use Regular Vodka?
Absolutely.
Orange vodka strengthens the orange flavor, but regular vodka works perfectly well.
If you’re using plain vodka, you’ll still have plenty of orange flavor from the gelatin and Orange Crush.
You could also use citrus vodka.
Can I Use Orange Soda Other Than Orange Crush?
Yes.
Another orange soda will work if that’s what you have.
However, if you’re calling these Orange Crush Jello Shots, I would use Orange Crush when possible.
That’s what gives the recipe its name and nostalgic soda flavor.
Can I Add More Orange Crush?
You can adjust the liquid proportions slightly, but remember that gelatin needs the correct overall ratio of liquid to set properly.
I wouldn’t simply add extra soda to the finished mixture.
If you want a stronger Orange Crush flavor, replace the 1/4 cup cold water with an additional 1/4 cup Orange Crush.
That gives you:
- 3/4 cup boiling water
- 3/4 cup Orange Crush
- 1/2 cup orange vodka
Keep in mind that the extra soda may create more foam when you’re mixing everything together, so pour slowly.
How to Keep the Soda From Foaming
Let the dissolved gelatin cool for a few minutes before adding the soda.
Then pour the Orange Crush in slowly and stir gently.
You don’t need to vigorously whisk the mixture once the soda has been added.
