Prep Time: 10 minutes
Chill Time: 2–4 hours
Total Time: About 4 hours
Ingredients
- 1 box (3 ounces) blackberry gelatin
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup blackberry vodka
- 1/4 cup black raspberry liqueur
- 1/4 cup cold water
- Fresh blackberries, optional, for garnish
- Black or purple sanding sugar, optional, for the rims
How to Make Blackberry Noir Jello Shots
Step 1: Prepare the Cups
Arrange approximately 12–16 small Jello shot cups on a baking sheet or tray.
Using a tray makes it much easier to move all of the filled cups into the refrigerator.
Step 2: Dissolve the Blackberry Gelatin
Pour the blackberry gelatin into a medium heat-safe mixing bowl.
Add 1 cup boiling water.
Whisk for approximately 2 minutes, or until the gelatin has completely dissolved.
Step 3: Add the Blackberry Vodka
Let the gelatin mixture cool for a few minutes.
Add 1/2 cup blackberry vodka.
Stir until combined.
Step 4: Add the Black Raspberry Liqueur
Pour in 1/4 cup black raspberry liqueur and 1/4 cup cold water.
Stir gently until everything is completely combined.
The liqueur adds a deeper dark-berry flavor and a little extra richness that makes these taste different from an ordinary blackberry Jello shot.
Step 5: Fill the Cups
Carefully divide the mixture between the prepared Jello shot cups.
Fill each cup approximately 3/4 full.
Step 6: Chill
Transfer the tray to the refrigerator.
Refrigerate for 2–4 hours, or until completely set.
Step 7: Garnish
Just before serving, place a fresh blackberry on top of each shot.
For an even more dramatic presentation, add a sparkling black or deep-purple sugar rim.
Keep refrigerated until serving.

What Do Blackberry Noir Jello Shots Taste Like?
These are all about dark berry flavor.
Blackberry gelatin provides a sweet, fruity base.
Blackberry vodka intensifies the berry flavor without adding another competing fruit.
And black raspberry liqueur gives the shots a richer, almost jammy berry finish.
The result is sweet, fruity, slightly tart, and much deeper tasting than a basic fruit Jello shot.
Why Are They Called Blackberry Noir?
“Noir” means black in French, and I wanted these shots to have a darker, moodier personality than my brighter fruit Jello shots.
Blackberries already have that gorgeous deep purple-black color.
So instead of making these bright or playful, I wanted them to feel elegant and mysterious.
Think dark berries, black glass, candlelight, deep purple, and a little sparkle.
They’re still incredibly easy Jello shots.
They just don’t look like it.
Jennie’s Thoughts
I love how different these look from some of my other Jello shots.
I’ve made bright blue, green, yellow, orange, and pink shots, but I wanted this one to be DARK.
Almost black.
I kept coming back to blackberry because the fruit already has that beautiful purple-black color.
Then I thought of Blackberry Noir.
That sounded exactly like what I wanted these to feel like.
They’re a little moody and a little glamorous.
I especially love them with one fresh blackberry sitting right on top.
You could leave them exactly like that, or add a tiny bit of black or purple sugar around the rim.
Put a whole tray of these on a dark serving platter with candles around them and they would look incredible.

Can I Use Regular Vodka?
Yes.
If you can’t find blackberry vodka, regular vodka works perfectly.
You’ll still get plenty of berry flavor from the blackberry gelatin and black raspberry liqueur.
You could also use raspberry vodka or another berry-flavored vodka.
What Black Raspberry Liqueur Should I Use?
Any black raspberry liqueur you enjoy can work in this recipe.
Black raspberry liqueur tends to be sweet and intensely fruity, so you don’t need very much.
The 1/4 cup in this recipe gives the shots another layer of berry flavor without making them overly sweet.
Can I Use Blackberry Liqueur?
Absolutely.
If you have blackberry liqueur instead of black raspberry liqueur, use it.
That will make the blackberry flavor even more pronounced.
How to Make Blackberry Jello Shots Darker
The exact color will depend on the gelatin and liqueur you use.
If you want an especially dark “noir” appearance, you can add one tiny drop of black food coloring to the finished mixture.
Be extremely conservative.
You want a deep blackberry-purple color that looks almost black—not opaque black gelatin.
Start with the smallest amount possible and stir before deciding whether you need more.
Add Fresh Blackberry Flavor
If you want more natural blackberry flavor, mash several fresh blackberries and strain the juice through a fine-mesh sieve.
Replace a tablespoon or two of the cold water with the fresh blackberry juice.
Straining is important because it keeps seeds out of the finished Jello shots.
Make a Blackberry Sugar Rim
For a prettier presentation, combine granulated sugar with a small amount of crushed freeze-dried blackberry.
The blackberry will tint the sugar naturally and give it additional berry flavor.
Dip the lightly moistened rims into the blackberry sugar immediately before serving.
Blackberry Noir Jello Shots for Halloween
These would be gorgeous for an elegant Halloween party.
Instead of neon green and orange, build the serving display around:
- Black
- Deep purple
- Gold
- Candlelight
- Fresh blackberries
- Dark flowers
- Vintage glassware
They would fit beautifully into a haunted mansion or gothic Halloween theme.
Blackberry Jello Shots for Parties
You don’t need a special theme to make these.
Serve Blackberry Noir Jello Shots for:
- Birthday parties
- Cocktail parties
- Girls’ nights
- Halloween
- Bachelorette parties
- New Year’s Eve
- Zodiac parties
- Fall parties
The dark color makes them especially pretty for evening parties.
Can I Make Blackberry Noir Jello Shots Stronger?
You can slightly adjust the alcohol ratio, but avoid adding excessive alcohol.
Gelatin needs enough water-based liquid to set properly.
Too much alcohol can result in Jello shots that remain soft or don’t set at all.
The ratios in this recipe give you plenty of berry-flavored alcohol while maintaining a reliable texture.
How Many Jello Shots Does This Recipe Make?
One batch makes approximately 12–16 small Jello shots, depending on the size of your cups.
The recipe can easily be doubled for a larger party.
Can I Make Them Ahead?
Yes.
Make the Blackberry Noir Jello Shots 1–2 days before your party.
Once they’ve set, cover the cups and keep them refrigerated.
Wait until shortly before serving to add fresh blackberries and sugar rims.
How to Store Blackberry Jello Shots
Keep the finished Jello shots covered in the refrigerator.
For the best texture and appearance, enjoy them within a few days.
Keep them chilled until you’re ready to serve.
