What is Gin?
Gin is an alcoholic beverage created through the distillation process. In this process, juniper berries are mixed with a grain-based spirit and flavored with various botanicals such as coriander, citrus peel, anise, angelica, licorice and cubes.
The history of gin stretches all the way back to 16th century Holland but gained its name “Dutch Courage” in 17th century Britain due to its popularity amongst soldiers and those seeking a little more courage before entering battle. Today it has become a staple in many bars and pubs around the world due to its refreshing taste and variety of flavors available. Regardless of what type you choose – London Dry, Plymouth or Old Tom – you can be sure that your G&T will be full of zesty flavor.
Bombay Sapphire Gin is a premium quality gin that has been around for over 200 years. It is expertly crafted with a unique blend of ten exotic botanicals from all corners of the world, including Juniper berries, grains of paradise, coriander, almonds and angelica stems. The spirit is neat tripled-distilled and infused with vapour-infused botanicals to bring out its distinctive flavours. Enjoyed best as a classic martini or gimlet Bombay Sapphire also serves as an excellent base for making cocktails and mixed drinks. Non-alcoholic versions are also available so that everyone can enjoy the enchanting essence of this timeless spirit.
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED:
- 2 Tablespoons of Raspberry Syrup – per glass
1 shot of Gin – per glass
Soda Water or Club Soda
1 large container of Fresh Raspberries – rinsed
Fresh Rosemary Sprigs - Ice Cubes
- Cocktail Glasses
HERE’S WHAT YOU DO:
This recipe is a ‘per glass’ recipe, so each drink is prepared in the glass to be served. Start by place 3 Fresh Raspberries on a Cocktail Skewer and set aside.
Add 3 or four Raspberries to the bottom of the glass and crush the berries. Pour the Raspberry Syrup over the Fresh crushed Berries and add Ice Cubes to the Glass.
Add the shot of Gin and fill the glass with Soda Water. Add a Fresh Sprig of Rosemary in the Glass and lay the Cocktail Skewer with the Raspberries on top of the glass to garnish. Serve, and Enjoy!
Makes 1 – 8-ounce Cocktail.
NOTE: You can find the Raspberry Syrup at most liquor stores, or on the Coffee aisle at most grocery stores, or where they keep mixes for drinks. You can also purchase online. Torani Syrup is what I used, but you can use any brand of your choice.
