Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ cup teriyaki sauce
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 bag (family size) Success rice (or 2 cups cooked white rice)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Cook the chicken:
    In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the chicken pieces and season with garlic salt, seasoned salt, and garlic powder. Cook until the chicken is browned and cooked through, about 7–8 minutes.
  2. Make the glaze:
    Reduce heat to low. Add teriyaki sauce, brown sugar, and hoisin sauce directly to the skillet. Stir to coat the chicken evenly, letting the sauce bubble and thicken into a sticky glaze, about 3–5 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Prepare the rice:
    While the chicken is cooking, boil the Success rice according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  4. Sauté the onion:
    In the same skillet (don’t wipe it out — those drippings are flavor!), add 1 tablespoon of butter and the chopped onion. Cook until golden and fragrant, about 3 minutes.
  5. Add the rice:
    Add the cooked rice into the skillet with the onion. Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes, letting it absorb the butter and chicken drippings for extra flavor.
  6. Combine and serve:
    Spoon the glazed chicken on top of the rice, drizzle with any leftover sauce from the pan, and serve straight from the skillet.

Tips

  • You can add a splash of bourbon or whiskey to the glaze (optional) for authentic flavor — just let it simmer to cook off the alcohol.
  • Want it a little spicy? Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a drizzle of sriracha.
  • Swap the chicken thighs for chicken breast if you prefer — thighs just stay extra juicy!
  • Garnish with green onions or sesame seeds for a restaurant-style touch.
