Monster Mac and Cheese
Monster Mac and Cheese
Looking for a creepy-cute dinner idea this Halloween?
This Monster Mac and Cheese is spooky, silly, and so easy to make! We use classic Kraft mac and cheese (because it’s everyone’s favorite), tint it a vibrant monster green, and decorate the top with googly candy eyes in all different sizes.

It’s the perfect way to get festive with minimal effort — and maximum fun.

Whether you’re hosting a Halloween party or just surprising your family with a themed dinner, this dish is always a crowd-pleaser! Be sure to try our Mummy Fudge recipe for a fun dessert afterwards.

Ingredients
- 2 boxes Kraft Macaroni and Cheese
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- Optional: 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (for extra cheesiness)
- Green gel food coloring (not liquid — gel works best for bold color)
- 25–30 candy eyeballs in assorted sizes (Wilton and other baking brands make them)
Instructions
1. Cook the Macaroni
Boil the pasta from both boxes according to the package instructions. Drain and return to the pot.

2. Make It Creamy and Green
Add the butter, milk, cheese powder packets (from the boxes), and optional shredded cheese. Stir until creamy.
Now it’s time to bring your monster to life! Add a few drops of green gel food coloring and mix until the color is even and bright. Start with a little and adjust until it’s the shade of green you want — think Slimer or Frankenstein!

3. Add the Eyes
Scoop the mac and cheese into a serving bowl or casserole dish. Let it cool slightly — just enough so the heat doesn’t melt the candy eyes.
Gently press the candy eyeballs across the surface of the mac. Use a variety of sizes and space them out for a wild, goofy, monster-y look. You can cluster some, make a pattern, or just go totally random — monsters don’t have rules!

4. Serve & Spook!
Serve immediately for best results. The contrast of the bright green mac and the silly eyes makes for a showstopping Halloween meal.

Tips & Tricks
- Want it neon? Add a small amount of yellow food coloring along with the green for a brighter effect.
- Candy eyes melting? Let the mac cool for 5 minutes before topping. Or press them into just the top layer, not all the way in.
- Make it extra cheesy: Stir in some shredded mozzarella or white cheddar for gooey texture.

Perfect For:
- Halloween dinner before trick-or-treating
- Kids’ spooky movie night
- Classroom parties (served warm in a slow cooker)
- “Mad scientist” party tables with bubbling drinks and monster cupcakes

Final Note
This Monster Mac and Cheese is just the kind of silly, memorable dish that makes Halloween extra fun.

It’s quick, affordable, and adds that perfect touch of spooky magic to your table — without scaring your budget.
