Ingredients:

  • Ham
    • 1 (12-pound) spiral-cut ham
    • Garlic powder (to taste)
    • Aluminum foil
    • 9×13 ceramic baking dish
  • Balsamic Honey Glaze:
    • 2 tablespoons butter
    • 3/4 teaspoon minced garlic
    • 1/2 cup bottled water
    • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
    • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze
    • 2 tablespoons honey
    • 1 tablespoon ketchup
    • 4 tablespoons brown sugar
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • Dash of seasoned pepper

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ham:
    • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
    • Unwrap the ham and remove the plastic cap covering the bone. Place the ham in a 9×13 ceramic baking dish.
    • Sprinkle generously with garlic powder and loosely cover with aluminum foil.
  2. Bake the Ham:
    • Place the ham in the preheated oven and bake for 3 hours.
    • Remove the dish from the oven and use a turkey baster to extract the juices from the bottom of the pan.
  3. Make the Glaze:
    • In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once sizzling, add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds.
    • Add the water, balsamic vinegar, balsamic glaze, honey, ketchup, brown sugar, garlic powder, and seasoned pepper. Stir well between each addition.
    • Cook on low for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the glaze thickens slightly.
  4. Glaze the Ham:
    • Pour the prepared glaze over the ham and use a basting brush to spread it evenly.
  5. Finish Baking:
    • Return the ham to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 20–30 minutes until the glaze is caramelized and the ham is golden brown.
  6. Serve:
    • Remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before transferring it to a serving platter. Slice and enjoy!
