Coffee cake donuts are a great twist on an old favorite.  Coffee Cake in many flavors has been around a long time, but the old traditional Coffee Cake was the Cinnamon Sugar, glazed with a crumb topping, and when you make this as Donuts, it’s even better!

It’s like a personal little cake, and it’s just delicious. These are so easy to make, and they’re not only great for Breakfast, but anytime you need a little sweet cake with your Coffee or Tea.  Make sure you keep this one in your favorites!

Ingredients you’ll need

To get started making this recipe, you’ll first want to gather all your ingredients first.

Here is what you’ll need:

  • Flour
  • Sugar
  • Cinnamon
  • Baking powder
  • Milk
  • Eggs
  • Shortening
  • Brown sugar
  • Butter

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1: In the mixing bowl of a stand Mixer,  add the Flour, Sugar, Cinnamon, Baking Powder, and Salt, and blend with the Whisk attachment.. In another bowl, add the Milk, Eggs, and Vanilla, and stir or Whisk together until well blended.

Step 2: Add the Shortening to the mixing bowl, and mix until blended. You may need to scrape down the sides of the mixing bowl and blend a couple of times to incorporate the Shortening.  Add the Milk/Egg mixture to the mixing bowl, and mix until a thick batter forms.  Scrape down the sides of the bowl again, and mix to make sure the dough is well blended.

Step 3: Spray the Donut Pan with Cooking Spray, and add the Batter to each Donut cup, about 3/4 full.   In a small bowl, mix together the ingredients until a crumbly mixture forms.  Place the Crumb Topping on the Donut Batter in the cups, filling the cups with the Crumb mixture.   Bake at 350 for 8 to 10 minutes, do not over bake.  Remove from the oven, and remove Donuts from the pan to a wire rack to cool,  for about 30 minutes.

Make the Glaze: In a small bowl, add the Powdered Sugar, and Milk, and stir well until blended.  When Donuts are cool, drizzle the Glaze on top of the Crumb Topping. Serve, and Enjoy!

All the delicious flavors of traditional coffee cake in one scrumptious donut. Loaded with cinnamon crumble and a sweet glaze.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of Flour
  • 1/2 cup of White Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons of Cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons of Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon of Salt
  • 3/4 cup of Milk
  • 2 Eggs
  • 3 teaspoons of Vanilla
  • 1 Tablespoon of Crisco Shortening

Crumb topping

  • 1/2 cup of Flour
  • 1/2 cup of Brown Sugar
  • 4 - 6 Tablespoons of Butter - melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon of Cinnamon

Glaze

  • 1 cup of Powdered Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons of Milk

Instructions
