A Fresh Start: Cleaning the Porch

I started by giving our porch a really good clean. Our light grey painted floor had collected dust and debris, so I gave it a good scrub with the hose, a broom, and a little splash of liquid Tide to really lift the grime. I also hosed off the brick, flower pots, and our green and white check cotton rug to get everything looking fresh again.

It felt amazing to watch all that winter buildup disappear. If you’re doing your own spring cleaning outside, I highly recommend giving your floor and outdoor decor a deep clean before you begin decorating. It makes such a difference!

Simple Spring Porch Decorating

After the floor dried, it was time for the fun part—adding some seasonal color! I picked up some beautiful faux spring flowers from Amazon (they last all season and still look real!) along with a sweet mini evergreen tree to anchor one of my larger pots.

I used a mix of purple and blue blooms, tucked in some green boxwood stems, and filled out the pots to make them feel full and lush. These colors really pop against the light grey floor and green shutters, and I love the cheerful, classic spring vibe it creates.

What’s Coming in Part 2

This is just the beginning! In Part 2, I’ll be repainting the porch floor to refresh the color and bringing new life to the hand-painted script I have at the entrance, which reads:

“Bless this home and all who enter here.”

It’s such a sweet, welcoming detail, and I can’t wait to show you how I touch it up and bring it back to life.
