HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE MOZZARELLA STUFFED MEATBALLS:
2 pounds of Ground Sirloin
1 large sweet onion – chopped
1 Tablespoon of minced Garlic
1 cup of Bread Crumbs (or crushed crackers if you prefer – Ritz or Saltines)
1/2 cup of Ketchup
1 Tablespoon of Worcestershire Sauce
1 Egg
1 Tablespoon of Italian Seasoning
1 Tablespoon of Sweet Basil
1 teaspoon of Ground Oregano
1/3 cup of Brown Sugar
1 teaspoon of Garlic Salt
1 teaspoon of Seasoned Salt
1 teaspoon of Seasoned Pepper
FOR THE SAUCE:
1 – 24 ounce can of Tomato sauce
1 Tablespoon of Italian Seasoning
1 Tablespoon of Sweet Basil
1 teaspoon of Ground Oregano
2 Tablespoons of Brown Sugar
1/2 teaspoon of minced Garlic
1/2 teaspoon of Garlic Salt
Coarse Ground black pepper – to taste
HERE’S WHAT YOU DO:
Butter the bottom and sides of a 9 X 13 dish, and set the dish close to your workspace, where you’re making your meatballs. Wash your hands, to mix and roll meatballs.
In a large bowl, place the ground Sirloin, and add the chopped Sweet Onion, Minced Garlic, Bread Crumbs, Ketchup, Worcestershire Sauce, Egg, Italian Seasoning, Sweet Basil, Ground Oregano, Brown Sugar, Garlic Salt, Seasoned Salt, and Seasoned Pepper. Mix all ingredients well (I use my hands, because it’s easier, and you’re going to roll out the meatballs). Once you have the meatball ingredients mixed well, roll into 2 inch meatballs, and place them in the 9 X 13 dish.
In another bowl, add the Tomato Sauce, Italian Seasoning, Sweet Basil, Oregano, Brown Sugar, Minced Garlic, Garlic Salt, and Coarse Ground Black Pepper. Stir together until all ingredients are well mixed. Pour the sauce over the Meatballs, and place in the oven at 375, for 45 to 1 hour, until the sauce has thickened, and the meatballs are golden brown. (Turn meatballs half way through baking).
Meatballs can be served over Rice, Pasta, or Mashed Potatoes, or served as a main Entree, with your favorite side dishes. Serve and Enjoy!
Makes 6 to 8 servings (approximately 3 -5 Meatballs each serving)
