Oreo M&M Brownies

These Oreo M&M Brownies are the kind of dessert you make when regular brownies simply aren’t enough. Rich chocolate brownie batter is loaded with whole Oreo cookies, white chocolate chips, ribbons of gooey fudge sauce, and colorful M&M’s before being baked into an incredibly decadent brownie dessert.

But we’re not stopping there.

Serve these brownies warm and scoop them straight from the pan, then add a big scoop of vanilla ice cream and plenty of warm hot fudge sauce. You get warm fudgy brownie, crunchy Oreo cookies, melted white chocolate, candy-coated M&M’s, cold ice cream, and gooey hot fudge all in the same bite.

I used spring-colored M&M’s for this batch, making these especially fun for Easter and spring parties, but you can easily change the M&M colors for practically any holiday.

Why You’ll Love These Oreo M&M Brownies

These aren’t neat little bakery brownies. They’re gooey, overloaded dessert brownies meant to be served warm and piled into a bowl with ice cream.

They’re perfect when you want:

  • An easy over-the-top chocolate dessert
  • Extra fudgy brownies
  • A fun Oreo dessert
  • A spring or Easter dessert
  • Something kids will love
  • Warm brownies to serve with ice cream
  • A dessert that looks as decadent as it tastes

The layers are what make them so good.

You get brownie batter → Oreos → white chocolate chips → fudge sauce → M&M’s, all baked together.

How to Make Oreo M&M Brownies

Prepare the Brownie Batter

Preheat your oven according to the directions on your brownie mix.

Prepare a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray or line it with parchment paper.

Mix the brownie batter according to the package directions.

Pour the brownie batter into your prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.

Add the Oreos

Now comes the fun part.

Arrange the Oreo cookies directly in the brownie batter, gently pressing them down so they’re nestled into the chocolate batter.

You can leave the Oreos whole for big cookie-filled bites throughout the brownies.

There’s no need to crush them first. Having those whole Oreo cookies hiding inside the brownie is part of what makes this dessert so good.

Add the White Chocolate Chips

Sprinkle the white chocolate chips generously over the top.

As the brownies bake, the white chocolate softens and melts into the brownie, giving you little pockets of creamy sweetness against all that dark chocolate.

Drizzle With Fudge Sauce

Next, drizzle the fudge sauce over the brownie batter.

You don’t need to completely cover the surface.

I like drizzling it back and forth so there are ribbons of extra chocolate running throughout the dessert.

This is what helps make these brownies especially rich and gooey.

Add the Spring M&M’s

Finish the brownies with a generous layer of spring-colored M&M’s.

The pastel colors look so pretty against the dark chocolate brownie batter, making these perfect for a spring dessert table or Easter.

You can gently press some of the candies into the top so they stay in place while baking.

Bake

Bake according to your brownie mix directions, keeping in mind that these brownies have a lot of delicious extras added to them.

Begin checking them around the time recommended on the package.

You want the brownie portion cooked but still moist and fudgy rather than dry.

A toothpick inserted into an area of brownie batter may come out with moist crumbs. Because of the fudge sauce, chocolate, and Oreos throughout the pan, don’t expect a perfectly clean toothpick everywhere.

Serve Them Warm

And this is where these brownies go from good to ridiculous.

Let them cool just enough that you can comfortably serve them, but keep them warm.

Use a large spoon or ice cream scoop to scoop the warm Oreo M&M brownies into bowls.

Top each serving with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Then pour warm hot fudge sauce all over the ice cream and brownie.

If you really want to take them over the top, finish with crushed Oreos or a few additional M&M’s.

Serve immediately.

The Ultimate Brownie Sundae

You could absolutely cool these brownies completely and cut them into squares.

But personally, I love the idea of treating them more like a warm brownie sundae.

The brownie is soft and gooey. The Oreos add crunch. The white chocolate adds creamy little pockets of sweetness. The M&M’s add color and candy crunch.

Then the vanilla ice cream starts melting into the warm brownie while the hot fudge runs over everything.

That’s the dessert.

Why Add Oreos to Brownie Batter?

Oreos and brownies are a perfect combination because you get two completely different chocolate textures.

The brownie is rich, soft, and fudgy, while the Oreo cookies provide a firmer chocolate cookie texture and their signature creamy center.

Leaving the Oreos whole also means that when you scoop into the finished dessert, you can uncover an entire Oreo hidden inside.

White Chocolate Chips Make Them Even Better

I love using white chocolate chips here because they provide some contrast to all of the chocolate.

Instead of adding another layer of semisweet chocolate chips, the white chocolate gives you a creamy vanilla-like sweetness.

And visually, the bits of white chocolate look especially pretty alongside pastel M&M’s.

Spring Oreo M&M Brownies

Using spring M&M’s instantly transforms these into an Easter or spring dessert.

The pastel pink, blue, yellow, green, and purple candies look gorgeous against the dark brownies.

Serve these for:

  • Easter
  • Spring parties
  • Easter dinner
  • Birthday parties
  • Family movie night
  • Potlucks
  • School celebrations
  • Weekend dessert

They’re also easy to change for other holidays.

Make Them for Any Holiday

The basic Oreo M&M Brownies can stay exactly the same. Just change the M&M colors.

Use red and green for Christmas, red and pink for Valentine’s Day, orange and black for Halloween, red and blue for the Fourth of July, or your favorite team’s colors for game day.

It’s one easy brownie recipe you can reinvent all year.

Tips for the Best Oreo M&M Brownies

Don’t overbake the brownies. These are supposed to be moist and fudgy, especially if you’re serving them warm with ice cream.

Use whole Oreos. You want those big Oreo-filled bites.

Don’t skip the fudge sauce. It adds another layer of gooey chocolate before the brownies even go into the oven.

Save some hot fudge for serving. The warm fudge poured over cold vanilla ice cream is one of the best parts.

Serve warm. They’re delicious at room temperature, but warm is where this dessert really shines.

Use a spoon instead of worrying about perfect squares. These are meant to be decadent. Scoop them up and pile them into dessert bowls.

Can I Make Oreo M&M Brownies Ahead of Time?

Yes.

Bake the brownies earlier in the day and let them cool. When you’re ready for dessert, warm individual portions briefly before adding the ice cream and hot fudge.

If you’re making them for a party, you can even set up a brownie sundae bar.

Put out warm brownies, vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, crushed Oreos, extra M&M’s, whipped cream, and sprinkles and let everyone build their own dessert.

How to Store Oreo M&M Brownies

Store completely cooled brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for about 3 days.

For longer storage, refrigerate them.

Warm individual portions before serving if you want to recreate that fresh-from-the-oven brownie sundae texture.

Keep the ice cream and serving hot fudge separate until you’re ready to eat.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I put whole Oreos in brownie batter?
Yes. Whole Oreos bake beautifully inside brownies and create delicious cookie-and-cream layers throughout the dessert.

Can you put M&M’s on brownies before baking?
Yes. Add the M&M’s before baking so they’re baked right into the top of the brownies.

Can I use regular M&M’s?
Absolutely. Spring-colored M&M’s give these brownies their pretty seasonal look, but regular M&M’s taste just as good.

What flavor Oreos should I use?
Classic Oreos are perfect, but you can experiment with different Oreo varieties if you want to change the flavor.

Should Oreo brownies be served warm?
They can be served warm or at room temperature, but I especially love these warm because they’re designed to be scooped into a bowl and topped with ice cream and hot fudge.

How do I know when loaded brownies are done?
Check an area that’s mostly brownie rather than directly through an Oreo or ribbon of fudge. The center should be set, and a toothpick can have moist brownie crumbs attached. Avoid baking until completely dry.
