Double Chocolate Sprinkle Cookies

There’s something magical about holiday baking—the way the kitchen fills with the smell of melted butter, cocoa, and sugar while festive music plays softly in the background.

For me, cookies are the heart of it all. Out of all the holiday treats, nothing says “comfort and joy” quite like a plate of freshly baked cookies waiting by the tree. These Double Chocolate Sprinkle Cookies are extra special because they’re not only delicious, they sparkle with festive charm.

Picture this: a fudgy, soft chocolate cookie on the inside with a light crunch on the outside from being rolled in chocolate sprinkles. They’re decadent enough for any chocolate lover, but simple enough to make with the kids on a snowy afternoon. I love to roll them in red, green, or even gold sprinkles during the holiday season—they look so cheerful on a cookie tray and make the perfect addition to a Christmas cookie exchange.

One of my favorite holiday traditions is making cookie tins for neighbors and friends, and these cookies are always the first to disappear. They travel well, hold their shape beautifully, and have that melt-in-your-mouth quality that makes people ask for the recipe every time. Plus, you can never go wrong with double the chocolate during the holidays, right?

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chocolate sprinkles (for rolling)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then add the vanilla.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Slowly add to the wet mixture until combined.
  5. Stir in chocolate chips.
  6. Roll dough into tablespoon-sized balls, then coat generously in chocolate sprinkles.
  7. Place cookies on baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 9–11 minutes, until edges are firm but centers remain soft.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
