Frankenstein Rice Krispy Treats
Frankenstein Rice Krispy Treats
These Frankenstein Rice Krispy Treats are monstrously cute, irresistibly chewy, and scarily simple to make! Classic marshmallow treats get a Halloween makeover with bright green coloring, chocolate “hair,” candy eyes, and Rolo candy bolts on each side.

Whether you’re hosting a Halloween bash or just want a spooky kitchen project with the kids, these sweet little monsters are a guaranteed hit.

Ingredients
- 3 tbsp butter
- 1 (10 oz) bag mini marshmallows
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- Green gel food coloring
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (for melting)
- Chocolate jimmies/sprinkles
- Wilton large candy eyes (2 per treat)
- Rolo candies (2 per treat)
- Melted chocolate or black decorating gel (for the mouth)

Instructions
1. Make the Green Krispy Base
In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium-low heat. Stir in the marshmallows and mix until completely melted and smooth.
Remove from heat and add several drops of green gel food coloring. Stir until you get your desired Frankenstein green.
Quickly fold in the Rice Krispies cereal and mix until fully coated.
Press the mixture into a greased or parchment-lined 9×13-inch pan. Flatten gently with a buttered spatula. Let cool and set (about 30 minutes), then cut into rectangles or squares.
2. Decorate the Monsters
Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 20–30 seconds until smooth.
Dip the top third of each Krispy square into the melted chocolate to create Frankenstein’s hair. Immediately sprinkle with chocolate jimmies. Place on parchment paper to set.
While the chocolate is still slightly soft, press two large candy eyes just below the “hairline.”
Using a bit of melted chocolate or black gel, draw on a squiggly or stitched mouth.
Press a Rolo candy into each side of the treat to create Frankenstein’s signature neck bolts.
Let all decorations set completely before serving or packaging.

Tips & Tricks
- Use green gel coloring for a vibrant, non-watery color.
- If Rolos won’t stick, use melted chocolate as glue or a toothpick.
- Want to get ahead? Make the treats a day in advance and decorate the next day.
